FYI

Greetings!

The 2012 Special Olympics New York competition season got under way this past weekend at Jacob Javits Center in NYC where the Peter Aquilone Memorial Floor Hockey Tournament was held. Three teams competed in the tournament taking away one gold and 2 silvers; congratulations to all! This weekend our other 2 floor hockey teams will be traveling to Yonkers for the Hudson Valley Regional Floor Hockey Tournament; good luck!

As we prepare for Winter State Games; fast approaching in February, we are always looking forward to the next season. The 2012 summer season will kick-off on March 10th at Molloy College with our Summer Conference. At this conference we will be offering sport certifications in volleyball, power lifting, track and field (including turbo javelin), and advanced training in basketball. We will also be offering certification for those interested in becoming coaches for the first time as well as a recertification piece on "Behavioral Support", taught by Tammy Baiko; Behavioral Specialist with AHRC Nassau. If you are interested in finding out more about the conference and to register please click HERE or contact our office at 631-254-1465.

Also, coming up in on March 3rd is the Town of North Hempstead Polar Plunge. If you haven't already done so, register yourself or your team by clicking HERE. We are also looking for volunteers for this event. So, if you aren't one for plunging, you can still contribute in a major way by  volunteering instead. If you are interested in volunteering please click HERE.

Sincerely,
